On December 12th, 2021, I went to a birthday party for a friend of mine. As soon as I walked into the venue, I saw her. We both showed up on time, but since everything runs on African time these days, we were a few of the only people there. She was sitting alone, and I immediately noticed how beautiful she was. I knew I had to say something to her that night, but I just didn’t know what to say, and didn’t want to introduce myself before the event even started.
So I just chilled and enjoyed myself until the event was coming to an end. I saw the perfect opportunity when she walked past me, so I stopped her and asked for her name, then I introduced myself and that was it... for the time being at least.
Fortunately for me, we both were with friends that like to stay at events 'til the very end. (Like last person to leave very end) We were able to talk a little bit while helping clean up (it still wasn’t much though). I didn't really know what to say, but I guess it worked in my favor because as we were getting ready to leave, I finally worked up the courage to ask her for her number, but before I could even ask, she asked me for my Instagram. (We already followed each other)
The day after the party, I messaged Mariah on instagram asking for her number, and immediately asked her out on a date. And the rest, is history...

Sam & I love to travel together & have made it a tradition to spend our anniversary in another country , so we booked a trip to Turks & Caicos for our 2nd anniversary.
Me being the planner that I am, I naturally made an itinerary of everything we would do while on the trip, but for our actual anniversary day, he told me that he would take care of our plans that night. I simply requested for him to hire a photographer since we always take photos of each other, but rarely together.
At the end of such a relaxing trip, it was finally our anniversary day. We started the day jet skiing in the ocean & relaxing at the beach. I still had no idea what our anniversary dinner plans were. When it was finally dinner time, Sam told me not to wear heels, so I figured we'd be going to the beach.
He drove us to a beautiful resort, and when we got out the car we walked for a while as if trying to find something. Finally, someone walked us to a beautiful private dinner set-up under a cabana right on the beach. When our server came up to us, she said "Congratulations" and I didn't think anything of it since it was our anniversary after all.
The photographer finally arrived & we took our photos on the beach. Some of the poses were very cringey to me, but I went along with it. He made us do a pose where Sam & I held hands from behind & then he told me to drop his hand and pose facing opposite directions. In my head I knew I would hate these pictures, but then to top it off, the photographer says "On the count of 3, turn around and hug each other" After these directions, I couldn't hide the awkwardness on my face, but like I said, I went along with it.
When I turned around with my arms wide open for a hug, Sam was on one knee. All I could do was laugh. I can't even remember everything he said because of the rush of the moment, but I do remember a wave interrupting us. He got back on his knee again and asked if I would marry him and of course I said yes!
When we returned to our cabana, our waiter said "Sorry for almost ruing the surprise, but now I can finally say congratulations"
